A beautiful Sufi teaching shows us how our pain is
not personal, it is an intrinsic part of being
alive:
Overcome any bitterness that may have come
because you were not up to the magnitude of the pain
that was entrusted to you.
Like the Mother of the World,
Who carries the pain of the world in her heart,
Each one of us is part of her heart,
And therefore endowed
With a certain measure of cosmic pain.
because you were not up to the magnitude of the pain
that was entrusted to you.
Like the Mother of the World,
Who carries the pain of the world in her heart,
Each one of us is part of her heart,
And therefore endowed
With a certain measure of cosmic pain.
Rilke’s words:
I yearn to be held
In the great hands of your heart—
Oh let them take me now.
Into them I place these fragments, my life…
In the great hands of your heart—
Oh let them take me now.
Into them I place these fragments, my life…
Rabindranath Tagore:
Let
me not pray to be sheltered from dangers
but
to be fearless in facing them.
Let
me not beg for the stilling of my pain
but
for the heart to conquer it.
Let
me not look for allies in life's battlefield
but
to my own strength.
Let
me not crave in anxious fear to be saved
but
hope for patience to win my freedom.
Sarvamangalam!
Blessings
to all!

things soever ye desire, when ye pray,
believe
that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.”
